Are You Solving The Wrong Problem?

Are you solving the wrong problem? All too often it’s the case where we put the solution into the problem statement.

This is especially important with process related problems, now more than ever we need to focus on processes working well.

The article I am sharing gets to the point. The thinking process behind problem solving or trying to improve something. The idea of continuous improvement has in many cases drifted to keep implementing the next idea. Often without understanding the real issue in the first place.

This leads to much trial and error and a belief that the solution bringers are delivering.

Take the Blackberry example. I imagine the problem statement was “We need a better keyboard…. ” What was the voice of their customer saying?

Do you have any examples of solving the wrong problem? I’d love to hear about it, share them with me.

Simon
